BBALL | Hurricanes look forward to hosting Mystics at Eastlink Centre

February 1, 2018

It’s a unique pair of games for the Holland Hurricanes this Saturday when they host the MSVU Mystics at the Eastlink Centre in Charlottetown as part of Basketball Day on PEI.

The women’s game starts the day off at 1:30pm with the men’s to follow at 3:30pm. The Island Storm will finish off the day with a matchup against the Halifax Hurricanes at 7pm.

Tickets are on sale now at the Eastlink Centre box office. By purchasing a ticket you receive access to all three-games.

Ty’keia Beals, in her second year with the ‘Canes, looks forward to being a part of Saturday’s festivities.

“We are excited to be a part of Basketball Day on PEI and to be able to compete at the Eastlink Centre,” she shared. “We are very motivated as a team to challenge for first place in the ACAA and show how we’ve progressed as a team since our last meeting with MSVU.”

The women’s Hurricanes enter the weekend at 10-2 and trail the Mystics in the ACAA standings by just two points. MSVU (11-1) won the only other matchup between these two teams this season on November 4 in Halifax.

The men’s Hurricanes enter Saturday’s game at 13-1 and in first place in the ACAA while the Mystics are 10-5 and in fourth. Earlier this season the Hurricanes defeated the Mystics 98-68 in the season opener.

‘Canes guard Antonio Kostakos looks forward to the experience.

“It will be exciting to play at the Eastlink Centre for the first time,” he shared. “Going into this weekends games we are definitely locked in as MSVU always plays us hard. Being a top team in the conference, we know there always is a target on our backs and every team is going to bring their “A” game when they play us. As a team if we play hard, and together, on offence and defence we will have the best chance at getting the results we want.”

The action will continue on Sunday when the Hurricanes host the Mystics at the Holland College Centre for Community Engagement at 12pm and 2pm (w/m).
