Basketball Hurricanes win big in Truro

The men’s and women’s basketball Hurricanes travelled to Truro on Saturday to kick start their 2013-2014 ACAA regular season schedules.
In the women’s game the Hurricanes went up early and never looked back, ultimately defeating the Dal-AC Rams 85-31.
Ashley Moss, first year Sport & Leisure student from Nassau, Bahamas, picked up a double-double for the Hurricanes scoring 19 points and 12 rebounds. Jazlin Barker picked up 16 points and 8 rebounds.
The Hurricanes led 51-7 after the first half.
On the men’s side the Hurricanes also started their season off with a victory after a 108-40 victory.
‘Canes second year player Alvin Parker led the team with 18 points and 13 assists while Aaron Evans picked up 11 points and 15 rebounds. The ‘Canes had five players scoring in double-digit, which included Chase Bowden and Orlando Palmer each with 16 points and Jake Kendrick with 14.
The Hurricanes led the game 53-22 at half.
The Hurricanes travel to St. Thomas University on Saturday, November 9th for games at 2pm (women’s) and 4pm (men) versus the Tommies for their next game. They’re home opener is scheduled for Saturday, November 16th when they host the Mount Saint Vincent Mystics for weekend games.
