The Hurricanes will hit the floor of the CCE for the first time this season after two road games.

The Holland Hurricanes men’s and women’s basketball teams are holding their home opener weekend on Saturday and Sunday after two weeks of playing on the road to start the season. The Hurricanes will welcome the Mount Saint Vincent Mystics to the Centre for Community Engagement.

On Saturday the women’s team will tip-off at 4 pm while the men’s game will take place at 6 pm. On Sunday the women’s game will take place at 1 pm while the men’s game gets underway at 3 pm.

The women’s team has had a strong start to the season after a season opening victory over the Dal-AC Rams on November 2nd and a strong effort in a 73-63 loss last Saturday to the second ranked team in the country, the STU Tommies.

The Hurricanes will host a strong team in the Mystics, currently 2-0 on the season after victories over Mount Allison and Crandall University in recent weeks. In last season’s series between the two teams the Hurricanes won twice while the Mystics won the final meeting between the teams.

On the men’s side the Hurricanes have had a strong start to the season with two victories on the road; a lopsided win over Dal-AC in their season opener and a comeback victory over the STU Tommies last weekend.

The MSVU Mystics have struggled on the court thus far this season as they currently sit 0-2 after losses to Mount Allison and Crandall University.

Last season the Hurricanes and Mystics season series was won by the Hurricanes 2-1.

This will be the first ACAA regular season game for the Hurricanes since last season’s ACAA championship win and the teams silver medal at the CCAA national championships. The Hurricanes are currently sitting as the number two ranked CCAA team in the country.
