Baseball Hurricanes bolster offence with the addition of Devan Thomas
April 26, 2016
The addition of Saint John, New Brunswick native Devan Thomas to the Hurricanes 2016 roster is expected to bring increased offence to the Holland College lineup this fall.
The 6’4”, 215 lb. utility player comes to the Hurricanes with an impressive playing resume. In 2011 he was an all-star at the Canadian Junior National Championships and was invited to play for the Canadian Junior National Team in Florida at their fall instructional camp.
In 2011-2012 he was a member of the Vauxhall Jets High School Baseball Academy (Vauxhall, Alberta) where he was recruited by the Jackson College Jets (Jackson, Michigan, USA) but attended the Prairie Baseball Academy (Lethbridge, Alberta) instead from 2013 through 2015.
With his experience at the elite high school, national and collegiate levels Thomas will be looked at as a leader on the roster.
“I’d say my strengths as a player would be hitting for power and driving in runs”, he stated.
Thomas will be enrolled in the Basic Firefighting program beginning in September.
“I’m excited to get to PEI to start my program and join the team. The fans can expect big things from the Hurricanes this fall”, he shared.
