Barker and McKinnon chosen as Hurricanes Athletes of the Week
February 18, 2014
Basketball player Jazlin Barker and volleyball player Jeremy McKinnon have been chosen as the Holland Hurricanes Athletes of the Week for the week ending February 16.
Barker, a first year Sport & Leisure Management student from Scarborough, Ontario racked up 20 points in Sunday’s win and had a strong game in Saturday’s win over UNBSJ Seawolves in ACAA basketball action at Holland College’s Centre for Community Engagement.
For a rookie, this guard has showed tremendous skill and ability and will continue to be a player to watch during her time at Holland College. There are only two games remaining in the Hurricanes women’s basketball season, which will be held at home this Saturday (vs STU Tommies at 2 p.m.) and Sunday (vs DALAC Rams at 2 p.m.).
McKinnon, an Accounting Technology student from Brackley Beach, Prince Edward Island is a fourth year middle for the Hurricanes. This past weekend at home, McKinnon was a key factor in Sunday’s game win 3-0 over UNBSJ Seawolves with his blocking and offense.
The Hurricanes now sit in third place in the ACAA league standings going into the ACAA Volleyball Championships this weekend at Mount Allison University in Sackville, NB.
