BAD | Hurricanes begin play at CCAA National Badminton Championships

Hurricanes badminton players Emma Hughes and Kristyn Visser began play at the 2017 CCAA National Badminton Championships in Toronto, Ontario on Thursday as they represented the Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association in women’s doubles play.
The ‘Canes struggled on opening day losing their three matches.
They began the day by facing the duo of Darby Walker and Christina Woo of the Vancouver Island University Mariners by dropping games 21-14, 21-14. They then met the pair of Christine Nguyen and Rachel Nham of the host Seneca College Sting. The Sting were victorious with scores of 21-8 and 21-9.
The Hurricanes final match of the day was against Phuthita Nilyok and Chloe Rowe of the Humber Hawks where they fell by scores of 21-6 and 21-11.
Friday will see the Hurricanes return to action with two matches scheduled. First they will challenge Rachael Smillie and Cecelia Wolski of the Concordia College Thunder before meeting Caitlyn New and Kaitlyn Wilbee from the NAIT Ooks.
The Thunder sit at 2-1 in the tournament while the Ooks are 1-2.
