BAD | ‘Canes end tournament in fourth in Truro

The Holland Hurricanes competed in the most recent ACAA badminton competition this Saturday hosted by the Dal AC Rams in Truro, NS.
The Mount Allison Mounties would go on to win the event with 76 points while the UKC Blue Devils would finish second with a total of 68. The third place finisher was the Université de Sainte-Anne Dragons with 44 points while the ‘Canes finished with 35; the Dal AC Rams would finish in fifth at 24 points.
The Hurricanes top performers on the day were Eric Renouf and Craig McAskill who teamed up to finish in second place in the men’s doubles “B” competition with a record of 3-1. The ‘Canes also received strong play from Emma Hughes who finished in second place in women’s singles “A” with a record of 3-1.
Third place finishes by David Cozens and Jonah Wilton in men’s doubles “A”, Matt Barlow in men’s singles “B” and Hughes and Cozens in mixed doubles “A” gave the ‘Canes five points in each competition towards their team total.
Josh Watkins would finish in fourth for the ‘Canes in men’s singles “A” as did Erin Quinn and Connor Loerick in mixed doubles “B”.
The Hurricanes did not compete in women’s singles “B” and women’s doubles “A” or “B” so did not receive any points in these categories.
The ‘Canes return to the court on February 3 when the Mount Allison Mounties host the final ACAA competition before the ACAA Badminton Championships in Charlottetown on February 17-18 at the Holland College Centre for Community Engagement.
