BAD | ACAA Championships to begin on Saturday in Charlottetown

Competing in the event are the Mount Allison Mounties, UKC Blue Devils, Dal AC Rams, Université de Sainte-Anne Dragons and Holland Hurricanes.
The event is separated into two single-day competitions.
On Saturday the five teams will compete for the ACAA Championship through five categories (men’s and women’s singles, men’s and women’s doubles and mixed doubles) with participants earning points towards a combined team total. At the end of the day, one collegiate team will be crowned the ACAA Champions. Last season, the Mount Allison Mounties took home the title.
On Sunday things will reset as players compete to represent the ACAA at the 2018 CCAA National Badminton Championships in Edmonton, Alberta. The ACAA conference will select the players that will represent them in the five categories mentioned above.
At the ACAA Badminton awards banquet on Saturday night at the Holland College Culinary Institute of Canada the ACAA will announce the ACAA Player of the Year as well as the Coach of the Year and Rookie of the Year.
Competing for the Hurricanes this weekend is Emma Hughes, Matt Barlow, Josh Watkins, David Cozens, Jonah Wilton, Erinn Quinn, Connor Loerick and Larry Liang.
In 2017 the Hurricanes finished in third place at the ACAA Championships with Hughes and Kristyn Visser qualifying to represent the ACAA in women’s doubles at the CCAA National Championships.
