AOTW | Trainor and Butler named Hurricanes Athletes of the Week

Volleyball players Dana Trainor and Brett Butler have been named the Holland Hurricanes Athletes of the Week for the week ending November 18.
Trainor, a fourth year libero for the ‘Canes from Charlottetown, PEI, had a strong game on Saturday versus the Dal AC Rams at the Holland College Centre for Community Engagement.
In the straight-sets victory, Trainor had two kills, one assist and 14 digs. The ‘Canes would win with set scores of 25-14, 25-9 and 25-22 and improve to 3-0 this season.
The Hurricanes will turn their attention towards this weekend’s big matches where they will face the 6-0 MSVU Mystics at the CCE; games begin at 6pm on Saturday and 12pm on Sunday.
This is the first time these two teams have faced-off since the ACAA Championship match last February.
Butler, a fourth year power for the Hurricanes from Charlottetown, PEI, led the ‘Canes to back-to-back straight-set wins over the Université de Sainte-Anne Dragons this weekend at home.
In Saturday’s win, Butler led the ‘Canes with nine kills; he also added two service aces and four digs. The ‘Canes would win the match with set scores of 25-14, 25-16 and 25-13.
In Sunday’s victory, he would add 11 kills and seven digs to his weekend total; the Hurricanes won the match with scores of 25-17, 25-10 and 25-21.
The Hurricanes, now 4-0 this season, sit atop the ACAA standings with the UNBSJ Seawolves in second at 3-0.
The ‘Canes and Seawolves will meet in the Hurricanes next games on December 2 and 3 in Saint John, NB.
