AOTW | States and Colley named Hurricanes Athletes of the Week
November 7, 2017
Women’s volleyball player Brittney States and men’s basketball player Jace Colley have been named the Holland Hurricanes Athletes of the Week for the week ending November 5.
States, a second year player with the ‘Canes, helped the Hurricanes start their season off with a victory on Sunday versus the Mount Allison Mounties. Her consistent and aggressive front row play along with a strong serving performance helped her lead the ‘Canes to victory.
The ‘Canes, 1-0 this season, will now look towards their home opener on Sunday when they host the Université de Sainte-Anne Dragons at the Holland College Centre for Community Engagement; tip-off is at noon.
States is currently studying in the Sport & Leisure Management student; she is from Bathurst, New Brunswick.
Colley, in his first season with the Hurricanes, scored eleven points and added four rebounds in Saturday’s season-opening win against the MSVU Mystics. He then scored thirty in Sunday’s win and added twelve rebounds versus the UKC Blue Devils, also in Halifax.
The Hurricanes started their season 2-0 and will play their home opener this Saturday versus the UNBSJ Seawolves at the Holland College Centre for Community Engagement. The ‘Canes play again on Sunday at the CCE versus the Dal AC Rams with both games this weekend beginning at 4pm.
Colley is currently studying in the Business Administration program; he is from East Preston, Nova Scotia.
