AOTW | Nelson and Dawkins named Hurricanes Athletes of the Week

Women’s basketball player Tyleigha Nelson and men’s volleyball player Kenton Dawkins have been named the Holland Hurricanes Athletes of the Week for the week ending February 12.
Nelson, a second year forward from Halifax, NS, in her first year with the ‘Canes, was a key contributor in a pair of home victories last weekend.
On Saturday, Nelson recorded eight points, five rebounds, two assists, five steals and two blocks in a 94-36 win over the UNBSJ Seawolves.
On Sunday, Nelson recorded a game high 14 points and added seven rebounds, three steals and one block in a 74-38 win over the UKC Blue Devils.
Nelson currently studies in the Sport & Leisure Management program.
The women’s basketball ‘Canes currently lead the ACAA with a record of 15-1.
The ‘Canes will be back in action on Saturday, February 18 as they host the Mount Allison Mounties at the Holland College Centre for Community Engagement. Game time is set for 2:00 PM.
Dawkins, a second year middle hitter from Nassau, Bahamas, led the ‘Canes to a pair of road victories over the UNBSJ Seawolves last weekend.
On Saturday, in a 3-1 win, Dawkins recorded ten kills, two aces and five blocks while on Sunday, Dawkins had seven kills, two aces, one dig and two blocks in a 3-1 win.
Dawkins currently studies in the Energy Systems Engineering Technology program.
With the two wins, the Hurricanes will finish the season in first place with an 11-4 record entering the ACAA Championships in Truro, NS hosted by the Dal AC Rams on February 24-26.
