Thank you for considering a gift to Holland College. Providing students with opportunities to succeed is one of the best investments you can make.

The Holland College Foundation funding priorities support the college's strategic direction. At present these priorities include student awards; support services and extracurricular activities; equipment and instructional technologies; renewal, greening and expansion of facilities.

Everyone Has Unique Financial Interests

There are many ways to make a gift to Holland College. We invite you to consider yours. Gifts of cash can be provided in lump sums or amortized over a period of time. Gifts-in-kind involve the transfer of assets such as equipment or resources for classrooms or labs.

Some gifts can provide increased tax benefits. For example, gifts of publicly traded securities, such as stocks, bonds, and mutual funds can be a cost-effective way to make your gift. A gift of life insurance allows you to make a significant impact with a minimal outlay of current savings or income.

You may also wish to consider making your gift through:

  • Retirement Funds
  • Charitable Residual Interest
  • Charitable Remainder Trust
  • Bequest

We encourage you to discuss these options with your financial planner to determine what is best for you.

All gifts are important to Holland College. Some donors wish to designate their gift towards a specific objective, while others leave them unrestricted, allowing us the flexibility to determine where the greatest impact will be made. The staff of College Advancement welcome the opportunity to work with you.

A “tax smart” way to make a difference …

Donating shares of a publicly traded security or mutual fund directly to the Holland College Foundation can be a tax efficient way to support Holland College.

As you are aware, if your shares have increased in value, a portion of the capital gain is taxable as income. However, by transferring the shares directly to the Holland College Foundation, the capital gains tax does not apply, and an income tax receipt will be issued for the fair market value of the securities.

We encourage you to speak to your professional advisor about how you can make a significant difference in the lives of our students while maximizing your tax benefits.
