By Matt Draper
OK, I admit it. I'm a guy. Hurry up and arrest me before I manage
to ruin the world with my high levels of testosterone and body hair,
my lack of knowledge concerning bedroom sets and Oprah, not to mention
my complete indifference towards any sport that doesn't involve the
risk of bloodshed and headbutting.
Is it easier being a guy? Who knows? I know I am happy being a guy.
I'm extremely pleased I never have to go through menstration, childbirth
or having to wear a bra. Granted, a few more trips to McDonalds and
I could probably use one.
Anyway, what was I saying? Oh yeah, men. Those bastards. Who do they
think they are anyway?
You know what, I still think women truly rule the world. They just
let us think we're in control. Do you know how much serious bitching
would come from guys if women controlled everything? Dudes are pansies
compared to the Ôfairer' sex. Most guys I know have a hard enough
time going down the supermarket aisle where the tampons are, nevermind
the thought of having a period.
Still, I don't like being treated like some sort of criminal just
because I happen to be male. I opened a door for a girl once and was
promptly told by the young lady that she could have done it herself.
What the hell?
Evidently it made me sexist. Yes, these sorts of practices are slightly
dated, but that was how I was raised.
Times are changing I guess.
A guy once said to me feminism is merely a fear based reaction some
women have to society. He said some girls just put up a tough front
so they won't be seen as inferior. This guy doesn't have a girlfriend,
I'd like to mention.
I don't have a problem with chicks who stand up for themselves. As
a matter of fact I encourage it.
There are a lot of guys out there who are tools. A friend of mine
used to be a resident advisor at an all female dorm at a university.
It seemed like every other week she had stories about girls getting
harrassed or even attacked. If women are scared to walk alone at night,
I can understand why.
All I want to point out is not all guys are idiots. Yes, some are,
but there are still a few good apples left. |
