Fee and Refund Policy for Full-time Programs

Tuition Fees

Tuition fees are established for each program. Information is available from the Admissions Office at (902) 629-4217 or 1-800-446-5265.

Fees may be paid in cash or debit card, by cheque, money order or credit card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express).

  • Holland College operates on a program year basis, not a semester system. Tuition, in full, is owing from the commencement of the program. For convenience, students are expected to pay sixty (60%) of tuition/lab fees on the first day of registration and forty (40%) on the first day of the second half of the program.
  • any tuition of $1,000 or less is payable in full upon the day of registration
  • all overdue accounts are subject to interest charges
  • the College reserves the right to cancel registration of those students who fail to pay their fees

Students who have overdue accounts will not be eligible to:

  • register for any program offered by the College
  • participate in on-the-job training activities
  • participate in any graduation or other recognition ceremonies
  • receive a diploma, certificate, transcript or any other official student record until all accounts are paid in full

Refund Policy

An application fee is non-refundable.

Applicants who officially notify the College of the decision to cancel their seats prior to program commencement are eligible for a refund of the confirmation fee as follows:

  • Fifty percent (50%) of the confirmation fee will be refunded up to thirty (30) days prior to the registration date of the program
  • Twenty-five percent (25%) of the confirmation fee will be refunded up to the end of the last working day prior to registration day

Other refunds to registered students will be granted under the following conditions:

  • A student exits the program or changes status (ie. full-time to part-time or change in start date/exit date) within sixty (60) calendar days after the day of commencement of the program year
  • A students exits for health reasons and supplies a medical certificate

The amount of refund will be determined as follows:

  • Any part of a calendar month attended or registered by a student constitutes a full month. Refunds will be made for complete months only
  • The tuition and fees refund will be based on the time subsequent to the student exiting the program, pro-rated over the duration of the course

International Students

  • Application fee of $100 is non-refundable
  • When applicants are accepted to a program they must forward, within 60 days from the date of the acceptance letter, a confirmation fee of $500 (CAD) in order to confirm their attendance and hold their seat. The confirmation fee is credited toward tuition costs. Applicants who are unable to obtain a Study Permit from Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) will have 100% of their confirmation fee refunded after they provide Holland College with a copy of the letter of refusal from CIC. Students who obtain a Study Permit but choose not to attend Holland College will not be refunded their confirmation fee

For convenience, students are expected to pay sixty percent (60%) of tuition/lab fees on the first day of registration and forty percent (40%) on the first day of the second half of the program, the tuition and fees for the full year are still owing.

A student who is dismissed from a program/course will not be eligible for a refund.

All refunds will be approved by the Chief Financial Officer or a designated authority.
