English Requirements
Because English is the language of study at Holland College, all applicants whose first language is not English must provide proof of English proficiency. This requirement can be satisfied with one of the following criteria:
1. You have studied full-time for at least three years (or equivalent in part-time studies) or at least six semesters (studying no less than three courses per semester) in a secondary school or university where the language of instruction and examination was English. If this applies to you, please provide verification from your school that the language of instruction and examination was English. (note: The minimum three year requirement does not include time enrolled in an ESL program)
2. You have achieved the required proficiency in one of the following English language tests:
- TOEFL manual score 550
- TOEFL computerized score 225
- TOEFL - internet based minimum 85
- Successful completion of ESL Level 8
- IELTS score of 6.0
- CAEL (Canadian Academic English Language) minimum score 60 with minimum 50 in each band
- CanTEST with minimum 4.5
- MELAB (Michigan English Language Battery) minimum 80
