Our Logo
Throughout our 36-year history, Holland College has achieved local, regional, national and international recognition for our competency-based style learning, our programs, and our graduates.
The college's offerings continue to expand in a variety of program areas and locations. State-of-the-art facilities throughout the province allow the college to focus on the resources of key industries and to customize training to industry needs, providing our students with the best employment opportunities possible. Our facilities include the Aerospace Centre and Atlantic Police Academy in Slemon Park, Georgetown Centre, the Tourism and Culinary Centre, Royalty Centre, Atlantic Technology Centre in Charlottetown, and the Marine Training Centre in Summerside.
Today, the College actively pursues new programming, research and marketing opportunities all over the world. In recognition of this growth, in 2003 we decided to change our 25-year-old logo to create a new identity for Holland College, a consistent image that would represent all of our locations and our more than 65 full-time programs.
Logo Rationale
The Holland College logo is comprised of a collection of elements that come together to represent the structure of the College and the aspirations of the student body.
The irregular shape of the logo outline is representative of the skills learning approach to education at Holland College, as each student approaches learning in an individualized way.
The break in this surrounding shape shows the accessibility of the College as part of the lifelong learning process.
The stylized H and C represent the college in this education process, while the column detail above the stylized H denotes a place of knowledge and higher learning.
The free formed circle atop the column allows the combination of three elements to form an energetic human figure emphasizing the student at the centre and in control of the education process. When these three elements are considered as one, the C now serves to represent a stylized Island with the Holland College student at the centre of the Island's institute of skills-oriented learning.
