Sport and Recreation

Sport, recreation, ecotourism, wellness and health promotion are just some of the increasing priorities in today’s society. They are also the focus of the College’s Sport and Leisure Management program. Phenomenal growth has occurred and is predicted to continue well into the future for the career opportunities targeted by this program.

Golf is one of the fastest growing recreational sports in North America. Now, more than ever, people have the time, resources and the desire to make golfing a part of their lifestyle. Whether novice, amateur or professional, today’s golf enthusiast expects quality in all aspects of their golf experience. Students in Holland College’s Golf programs are trained to provide that quality as they develop the interpersonal, hospitality, technical and organizational skills to access employment in the golf industry. Golf students also have the unique opportunity to receive some of their training at the Canadian Golf Academy, rated by Score Magazine as "Canada’s #1 Golf Teaching Facility".

  • Second-year students and instructors from Holland College's Golf Club Management program had the opportunity to meet many of the world's best golfers, including Canadian Mike Weir, when they worked The Players Championship held in Sawgrass, Florida. The students were responsible for ensuring that the players had everything they needed, retrieving balls, and placing signage identifying the player when he was on the range.

Graduates of the Sport and Leisure Management and Golf Club Management programs may take advantage of the articulation agreements which offers credit towards a university degree.
