Holland College Equity & Diversity - About the Logo

On February 14, 2001, the Equity & Diversity Committee posted a competition for a logo design to staff and students of Holland College.

The contest was won by Shirley Gallant.  Shirley is the Charlottetown Office Systems Administration Lab Assistant. The Committee thanks the other competitors for their submissions. 

A special thanks to Shirley for her patience and time in working with the Committee in achieving the final result you see below.

The main goal of the Committee was to have a logo that represented not only the primary focus of the committee, improving the culture of the College, but also to represent the kind of diverse community that exists at Holland College.

The logo interpreted:

Representing equality, the word EQUITY is displayed in capital letters with the same font characteristics. The word DIVERSITY on the other hand is spelled with both upper and lower case letters and different font characteristics and represents diversity.

The group of human forms displayed in various shades and sizes also represents the diverse community that makes up the Holland College Community.
