Camera Recommendations

Photography & Digital Imaging - New Lab Fee for 2006/07

This upcoming September, the Photography & Digital Imaging Program will be collecting a lab fee to provide incoming students with the supplies they require to complete all assigned projects, skills and many self directed endeavors. The fee of
$1575.00 is an estimate of what the average student consumes throughout their first year of studies (black & White/color film & paper, slide film, etc...). The fee will be collected by the Admissions Department along with tuition.
A small amount of supplies will still be required above and beyond what the lab fee provides. These items should be acquired before the start of classes in September. Please refer to the list below for more information.

General Materials and Supplies


(All items available at photo stores, hardware stores, art and office supply stores.)
2 “X-Acto” type knives (one each: small and large blade).
Scissors (good quality).
Three ring binders (4-5, for negative file storage).
Folder with plastic pages for skills presentation (8 X10 folder available in bookstore).
Waterproof markers (“mark all”), black or red (one each: fine and broad tipped).
Note book “Black Book” (minimum size 8X10, hard cover, blank pages).
Masking tape (one each: wide and narrow width).
Gaffer tape (also called duct tape).
Cotton gloves (for film and prints).
Hand towels (set of 2-3).
1 (#000 size) retouching brush. 1 (#1 size) retouching brush.

Note: The first year textbook will be available in the Holland College Bookstore by early August. The second year book is a strong recommendation only therefore, will not be stocked by the College Bookstore. It is readily available on web sites such as
amazon.ca or chapters.indigo.ca or can be ordered through your local bookstore. Please be careful if you buy second hand books. Make sure they are the most current edition!
