Health and Community Studies

Preventing illness and injury, promoting wellness, providing quality childcare, and responding to the emotional and physical needs of those in our community are issues of concern to Canadians today. More than ever our society requires a specialized and well-trained health workforce. Creating this workforce is the objective of the Health and Community Studies Department.

Holland College programs in this area continue to gain a reputation for professionalism and quality. College graduates are recognized for their knowledge, a clearly defined set of skills and the ability to adapt them to a variety of work environments. Health and Community Studies graduates work provincially, nationally and internationally as dental assistants, practical nurses, child and youth care workers, early childhood educators, human services professionals and as paramedics. The one and two year programs offered in the Health and Community Studies Department are:
