Volunteering

Giving to the Holland College Foundation does not necessarily mean donating money. Some of the most valuable gifts given to Holland College students are those of time and experience. There are several volunteer programs currently in development at Holland College:

Mentor a Student

This program will connect individual students who are interested in learning from a successful graduate with graduates who are willing to share their experiences. The relationship may take many forms. The mentor may only be called upon to answer a few questions from time to time, the mentor and student may exchange weekly or monthly e-mails as initiated by the student, or perhaps the mentor and student may share a couple of lunches per school year. The amount of time spent together will be defined by the student and mentor at the outset of the program.

Speaker Pool

From time to time, learning managers invite professinals from industry to speak to students. This is a great opportunity for students to get a feel for the field they have chosen to study. It is also an opportunity for students to get the most up-to-date information and to share what they have learned. 

Résumé Circulation

The Holland College Foundation, in conjunction with the Office of Alumni Development, provides résumé circulation for students and recent graduates. This is an area where alumni can provide a vital service. Through this program, résumés of students who have been recommended by their learning managers are distributed to volunteers in the same field. These volunteers then circulate the résumés to others in order to bring students, graduates and employers together.
