About the Foundation

Holland College established Holland College Foundation Incorporated in 1982, making it one of the oldest community college foundations in Canada. Recognizing the importance of supplementing its tuition fees and government support with private funds, Holland College established the foundation to provide financial support by raising, coordinating and managing funds from private sources for the institution. The Holland College Foundation Board of Directors is chosen from the Island community, and may also draw from the region and across the country.

The Holland College Foundation enhances the continuing development of the college by providing funds for scholarships, bursaries, research and special projects. The foundation is responsible for soliciting, receiving and recording gifts from business and industry, foundations and the private sector.

The foundation’s goal is to provide scholarships and bursaries to as many Holland College students as possible, offering high school graduates the opportunity to continue their education beyond Grade 12 and enabling those already in the workforce to upgrade their skills in order to further their careers.

CookeInsuranceAwards All of the money raised by the foundation goes directly to the scholarship, award, bursary, research, or special project for which it was intended. Holland College covers all operating costs of the foundation office.

The primary focus of the foundation has always been to provide assistance to students. More than 2,000 applications for financial support were received by the foundation for the academic year 2005-2006. Through the generosity of our donors and corporate sponsors, the Holland College Foundation assisted approximately 215 students, disbursing $178,700 in scholarships, bursaries and awards.

Holland College is extremely proud of its diverse programs, facilities and instructional staff. The recently renovated and expanded Atlantic Police Academy and Marine Training Centre in Summerside, the Georgetown Centre, the growing number of nationally accredited programs, the college’s partnership and commitment to industry, leading edge technology, and skilled instructors, all provide students with the opportunity to receive top-notch training in their chosen field.

Providing the programs, technology and instructional expertise for Holland College students is costly. That’s why the Holland College Foundation needs your support. Help us to make Holland College’s quality programs more accessible for any student who wants to expand their opportunities in the workforce. There are a variety of ways that you can contribute.
