Marine Training Centre Home

Simulated Electronic Navigation/ARPA

The Marine Training Centre offers a state of-the-art Kongsberg Polaris (Full Mission) DNV Class “A” compliant ship’s bridge simulator. The bridge has a 245º horizontal field of vision plus one 35º stern channel (total FOV = 280º). The system also includes three smaller Own Ship bridge simulators each with 120 degrees of visuals. Instructional facilities feature a video monitoring system and debriefing space.

The ship’s bridge simulator is capable of simulating a total shipboard operation situation, including advanced maneuvering, and it is fully integrated with the Centre’s Dynamic Positioning, and Engine Room simulators. The bridge simulator allows students to navigate vessels ranging from 5 tonnes to 300,000 tonnes, under various weather and tidal conditions, through the approaches and harbours in different areas of the world.

The Radar/ARPA and ECDIS displays also represent the latest technology from Kongsberg Maritime. Full functionality ensures a training environment comparable to actual shipboard operation.

Available on a 12-month demand basis, Simulated Electronic Navigation training is approved by Transport Canada and students may enroll for SEN I, Parts A and B, SEN II and ARPA programs to achieve the required certification.

Customized programs to meet specific industry needs can be arranged.
