Fishing Master Class IV

This course provides fisherpeople with the opportunity to improve their position and become a Master or Deck Officer aboard fishing vessels. The program prepares candidates to pass the examination set by Transport Canada for Fishing Master Class IV.

  • Stability
  • Navigation Instruments
  • Chart work and Pilotage
  • General Seamanship
  • Marine Emergency Duties (MED A1)
  • Marine Advanced First Aid
  • Radio Operators Certificate Maritime Commercial (ROC-MC)
Course Length: 10 weeks

Prerequisites

Candidates:

  • must have 12 months of approved Transport Canada sea service on a vessel of not less than 5 ton gross tonnage;
  • must pass a Transport Canada eyesight and colour blindness test;
  • must pass a Transport Canada medical examination;
  • should have a basic knowledge of English and math.
