Business Studies

The Business Studies Department at Holland College offers programs that provide the skills students need to start their own business or to work in the private or public sector, as well as programs that develop the skills necessary to meet the challenges and complexities of the offices of the future.

The Department offers a variety of one and two year, Certificate and Diploma programs in the business field: accounting, sales, retail, marketing, advertising, and human resources. Studies in all of these areas include a broad range of core business skills in addition to the specific skills associated with the area of concentration chosen.

Students may enrol on a full-time or part-time basis for some of these programs and individual modules may be designed to allow students and employers to select the skills that best reflect their needs and schedule.

On the administrative side of the Department, students may choose from various program offerings designed to develop the necessary technological skills as well as personal and professional competencies, written and oral communications and customer service skills that are essential to a successful career. Students have an option to select a specialty area in administrative or medical services.

Trained in the critical areas required by today’s office professional, graduates of our administrative programs can be found in every sector of the economy including businesses, all levels of government, banks and financial institutions, crown corporations, medical offices, hospitals and self employment. With a combination of theory and practical experience, the College’s Business Studies graduates possess the expertise they require for success in today’s business world.
